When they say Facebook helps connect people, they really mean it. Unfortunately there are few ways to disconnect from people aside from removing them completely. This afternoon I loaded up my Facebook and staring at me was the picture of a baby with a cracked skull and the child’s brains leaking out. Does that paint a disgusting enough image for you? Well the image is even more disgusting.
One of my Facebook friends thought they would share that image with their friends and for some reason Facebook decided that the image was important enough to display in my news feed. I’d like to remove that story from my news feed but unfortunately I can’t. Why? Well Facebook doesn’t give me the option to remove it. Instead I can only select the option to view less stories about that individual.
Currently Facebook has a ban against viewing images of women breast feeding their child but there is currently no policy against seeing images of dead children. Seems a little bit ironic. Initially I didn’t feel very strongly about Facebook’s breast feeding ban but after seeing this horrendous image, I’m pro-breast feeding photos.
The image was used to promote a Greek Facebook group that has organized against Israel, asking them to stop killing babies. The group has some pretty gruesome photos uploaded to the Facebook group but for the sake of keeping your stomach in a comfortable situation, I’ve decided not to display the images in this article. If you really want to view them you can visit the group.
For the next couple hours, I have the pleasure of logging into Facebook to view this disgusting photo. One of two things should take place: Facebook should give users the ability to remove news feed stories for their homepage, or they should develop a more effective filtering system. While they’re at it they should allow breast feeding photos as I would much prefer seeing such images over seeing dead babies.

thats gruesome..facebook should allow removal of news feeds..filtering is tough and will also result in false positives !!…feed content removal in addition to better filtering techniques should be employed..and soon !!
thanks for sharing
This was not as bad as the image you refer to but I had a little too much insight into your personal life in my stream the other day

On an earlier post you were showing your complete support to Israel just because your sister lives in Tel Aviv, although you shouldn’t be biased to any side as this is not a website for politics, you continued mentioning how Hamas is a terrorist organization and you completely ignored the victims on the Palestinian side. And now that some groups on Facebook reveals the awful truth about the war crimes of the israeli army you still demand a Facebook policy against posting pictures of dead children, which means, you demand a Facebook policy against the revealing of Israel’s wanton war crimes against the civil Palestinians. This seriously doesn’t make me trust your website anymore. I’m out of here.
@ Mohamed: Though you´re supposedly out of here I still wanted to state you´re overinterpretating the given article. There´s nothing political here, it could be some other gruesome image this unfolded about. And I don´t see any political bias either, only towards breast-pics.
Hey,
Sorry about the baby pix you describe. I came across it while browsing the web trying to figure out how to delete a comment form someone that appeared on my wall. It’s not as gruesome, but bothersome just the same: some profanity that I don’t want to see there. Does anyone know a way to remove it?
I’m not having much luck…
Thanks,
John
