Happy New Year!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of the readers of this blog for an amazing 2008. This site has grown tremendously from when I first started it last May. After looking at my Google Analytics tonight I realized one thing: persistence is key to success. This month has been a break through month for this blog and next month will be even more incredible as I’m preparing to release a number of new things.

Without the readers of this site, I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills. There are months at a time where the site has experienced practically no growth but the readers have kept me going. Some months I’ve even come close to not paying the bills but fortunately things worked out! 2008 has been a hard year for many and it appears that 2009 may be just as hard if not harder. One place that hasn’t been suffering heavily is Facebook as they have continued to experience tremendous growth.

While I tend to shift on this blog between being extremely critical and a fan boy of the company, I try to stay objective as possible over the long run. Yes, occasionally I make ridiculously outlandish statements, but what I’ve learned from the process is that this is the new world of journalism. People get false information from numerous media sources every day and it is now increasingly important to be critical of all information you receive, including the occasional “hot tip” that I get from a reader that’s completely inaccurate but decide to post anyways.

I’ve learned my lessons from pushing the envelope and that’s something I’ll never stop doing. Regardless of the objectivity of this site and my other site, Social Times, I will continue to do is slave away at building this company, whatever this company may end up doing. Thanks to you for helping this site and others stay alive. Also a massive thank you to all the sponsors (Social Media, BuddyMedia, Offerpal Media, Social Cash, the sponsors of the first Social Ad Summit, and any others that I’ve missed) that have kept this site alive, without them I’d be forced to come up with a new business idea ;) Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you in 2009!

Best wishes, and thks for this site. FYI - it has been your reflections on (referring other discussions of) Fb’s privacy and security settings and systems that has been of greatest interest to me. Nonetheless, the site’s certainly become a “must read” imho.
