It looks like Facebook may be reconsidering some minor changes to their site header. Thanks to Ethan Bodnar, I was able to check out a new version of the header that was displayed temporarily on Facebook. The header has been apparently redone so that there is now a “Home” link, a “Profile” link and another link with your name which I’m assuming links to your profile.
It’s interesting to see the shift and that “Home” needs to be explicitly stated since apparently users don’t realize that the Facebook logo links to the site homepage. While it isn’t official that Facebook will be switching their header, it’s clear that they are testing out some minor changes. So Facebook’s “new design” definitely is still shifting.
I’m guessing that we will continue to see new changes over the coming months and it’s clear that this is simply one more of them. It’s great to see Facebook consistently iterating. If you end up seeing a similar header on the site please let us know as we’d love to hear what changes you are seeing take place!

I had the same header about an hour or so ago, but it's switched back now.
I've got it right now and I like it. My name was unnecessary there, and even though I always use the logo as my home button, the home label is a lot tidier.
And yes, both the profile and name link to your profile…
I have that new interface now on my Facebook.
I also have the new header. Both facebook logo and home are linking to the home page, with different ref parameters ref=home and ref=logo. Same for the two profile links with ref=profile and ref=name.
I got the same new header. Don't people know that the logo is usually the “way home”? Arrgg

Facebook and MySpace are different in some ways than many new sites in terms of design and navigation.
It is the new standard it seems, on sites like Flickr, imeem, iLike, etc., for the word “Home” to link to the user dashboard (which is what Facebook now does), but the company logo links to the site' s main page. But since Facebook doesn't have a main page, they obviously use it as another link to the dashboard.
I definitely see why they would add “Home” because the dashboard is a major focus now with all the new feeds and filters, etc. and many social networking users are getting used to clicking “Home”, not the company logo, to get to the dashboard.

then why keep both? btw thats probably why they have the ref parameter. They are counting how many people click on the logo and on Home. I will spend 5h everyday spam clicking the logo, and they will perhaps remove the Home button
They just made a new header that stretches the full width of the page. I like it! It has the same links though (so far)
