What's wrong with Harvard et al. going first? After all, FB started at Harvard and other elite universities.

In fact, I'm kind of mad they opened up FB to high schoolers and the general public. It's gone downhill since then. All sorts of spam and fake profiles. All these sorts of people already had Myspace.

I understand there's money to be made off of these people, but why base your business on all sorts of fickle people that will move on to the next thing first chance they get. It was far more valuable to have the captivation and interest of just the elite college students. Imagine going up to advertisers and saying we've got the next generation of doctors, lawyers and captains of industry checking our website compulsively. Want a piece of that action?

Silly move FB.

if they go for a staged opt in

there is 24hrs in a day so maybe have time windows when you can 'opt in' FB could opt for the top 23 countries/ markets then the 24th hour could be all other markets.

this could also be done on surname basis A-W then X,Y Z the last hour.

but if there ever did the annoying fb network 'favoritism' they did with FB Chat i be very annoyed, Harvard University does not deserve it more than the Zimbabwe or any other network!

I have already tested the new profile thanks to firefox extension "boost for facebook". And sincerely I think it is much worse than the present one. I know that they will launch the new one this week... it pisses me off !!

It's really annoying that almost all facebook launches have/had a delay - e.g. weeks ago the chat and now the redesign and the start of the payment platform is postponed as well...
