[...] So today, I was telling my friend jewel that facebook should remove application if the application is not being used in 10 days! That means user is not interested to use it - so why should I keep this in the user’s profile to make it clumsier? And most of the Facebook users don’t care how these applications are getting his/her page look clumsy n heavy. So I thought facebook team should take this initiative. Was thinking I might write it in their blog or something….and you know what happened. I just read this news from here… [...]

Great idea. My hope is that the facebook team plans to empower users with a management tool that will remove applications on mass, but only those that were selected by the user. Applications don't deserve to count unused applications in their list of users, so to them I say too bad.

Don't forget that you can collapse application boxes and their collapsed state will carry over from profile to profile. This way you can ignore applications YOU don't care about as opposed to the profile owner.

[...] AllFacebook noted that this may mean bad news for developers who’ve created little-known Facebook applications and are counting on viral buzz to grow their products. If those applications are rendered invisible by “extended profile” controls, that viral expansion could be stalled. Aside from that, I think the “profile cleanup” is a great idea. My kid brother’s Facebook page is covered in more zombies and vampires than a Mystery Science Theater 3000 double-feature, and it ain’t pretty. [...]

Oh, yes please!!! I agree with Leon. The is great news for me as an active professional on Facebook. I've "nexted" some profiles if they take too darn long to load. And I think all the frivolous apps just make profile pages look trashy.

Sure, I feel for app developers, but let's face it I didn't get that making an app was the holy grail of FB... yet anyway.
