It would be in Facebook's best interest to offer a default lightweight view with no custom third-party applications. If that is too much to ask then they should track the performance index of the third-party application servers. If it falls below a threshold then the application box should be not displayed on the user profile. In the end I don't care how its done but Facebook needs to take action.
