Just when you thought there wouldn’t be more advertising options for application developers, AdChap, a cost-per-click ad network decides to launch. So why use them over one of their competitors? I have no idea! They have a pretty well designed user interface but aside from that, I don’t believe that they have the critical mass necessary to make this a sustainable business.
I am somewhat biased though since I think that many of the current advertising plays on Facebook are extremely short ones. Larger advertising networks (including Facebook) are preparing to enter the market and will have the inventory that is able to provide higher CPC and CPM then the existing Facebook advertising platforms. AdChap is currently charging $0.13 for each click and I’m sure that publishers are getting a fraction of that.
An additional problem with these new ad systems in that while they provide you with clicks, there is no insurance that some of those clicks are repeat users. This is the wild west of advertising and there is no accountability. Additionally, AdChap doesn’t appear to be serving the most compelling ads. An example of one of their ads is below. Is there anybody that thinks that the CPC advertising model on Facebook is a good model for new entrants to the market? If you still haven’t found a good advertising network on Facebook, go check out the AdChap application.

I’m thinking that this ad network wont provide the neccesary ROI for clients especially as were patiently waiting for FB’s announcment this afternoon!
What does interest me with FB flyers etc is that many of the ad’s are very poor quality (spam) and so no wonder ctr’s are low - i’d be more interested in the CTR’s for more established clients (eg Virgin Atlantic running a flyer campaign with decent ad copy and ad image) rather than seeing “get a free ipod” adverts data.

Thanks for the mention. So far many publishers are reporting click through rates than some of the other ad networks out there. Also, we have had ads from the likes of Twitter, Guy Kawasaki and the Wall Street Journal.
During the launch promo period, we have been giving advertisers 60 free clicks, we believe that due to the clicks being free, there are some advertisers that are just using the free clicks, some of these ads may not have been the highest “quality”.
We are seeing CTRs vary depending on the quality of the ad, the number of page views, which application the ad is hosted on, position of ads, color of ads and several other factors. Ad Chap gives publishers the ability to control the look and feel of the ads on their page to enable the ads to integrate better and therefore get a better CTR.
Also, facebook’s announcement of Social Ads does not impact application owners and developers at all. Facebook has not allowed developers to make money via Social Ads and their apps.
