I agree with your conclusions, but I would hesitate to use the word 'great'.  Right now Facebook is gaging as to whether or not they can get their notice more recognizable.  They still aren't showing respect for the end users.  Neither are the participating companies for that matter.

It would be so simple if they made it opt-in per transaction, but they obviously don't want to do that just yet.</description>
