Today, AdMob, a mobile advertising provider, launched a new advertising system for the Facebook mobile platform. As announced a few days ago, Facebook has expanded their platform to provide developers with the ability to build Facebook applications. The new ad network displays text ads at the top of applications. This network is the first monetization solution for all Facebook developers that are launching applications.

As I wrote the other day, developers have tons of monetization tools to select from but this is currently the only mobile one. The real benefit here is that AdMob already has the ability to fill inventory given that they have served over 9.6 billion ads. This contrasts with the current Facebook advertising solutions who are finding it extremely challenging to fill all of the invetory being required by some of the most popular applications.
