I’m referring to whether or not it is a good idea to be completely open on Facebook the way that Robert Scoble and Shel Israel wrote about in the book Naked Conversations. While Robert and Shel were mostly referring to companies opening up by encouraging employees to blog, it can be used for individuals as well. If you want to be a master at self-promotion then it is best to be as transparent as possible.
The most recent problem has been highlighted by the New York Attorney General’s allegations that Facebook is not doing enough to protect underage members. Whether or not they are protecting them is something I won’t discuss on this post. I do think it is important to define what sort of access you should grant to your profile. Should you allow the whole world to see my profile, even people that aren’t in my network? Should you limit access only to friends? What types of friend requests should I accept? Jeff Pulver has published his friends code of conduct. Robert Scoble will accept anyone no matter how they know him (although he has now hit the 5,000 friend limit so he can’t anymore).

My friend policy is based on a principle of ‘if they contact me will I reply’…and people can see the whole profile, if its that personal you shouldn’t put it on there.

I have a process I go through with every Friend request, where I initiate or they do. Most of what I do is intuitively based and takes less than 60 seconds to do.
However, I’ve started documenting the process in a how-to guide to show other people. I believe there are certain signs to look for in terms of which people would make a good friend, and which might just take up a valuable seat in your 5,000-strong ‘auditorium.’ LOL.

she is real coz she confirmed but the erased me, nudist i think. It is the culture of these sites that promotes these types of pictures or what do you guys think? Also, interesting note, they did a study that found this is far more of a problem on myspace than on facebook.
