Yesterday, Eric Eldon posted an article about Google recruiting third party application developers for running adsense. I’m not quite sure that this is a huge surprise. Any web based advertising company is going to fight to get a piece of the top applications on Facebook. When you have hundreds of thousands of daily visitors to your application, every web advertiser is going to be fighting for a piece of your real estate.
Early yesterday morning I received an email from one of my readers highlighting these Google ads but I thought nothing of it. Eric has said that Google is “specifically building this network for advertisers who want to be on Facebook, and will let advertisers run their ads across all Facebook apps that sign up for it.” Is this a separate network? That’s what Eric makes it sound like but that doesn’t make much sense to me. If Google is actively recruiting these developers, look for them to acquire one of the large players that have piggybacked on the success of Facebook.
Since they are most likely not going to acquire Facebook at this point, Google will be forced to try and attain as much information as possible from whomever the largest third party is in this space. While this is all theory at this point, it is a logical business decision. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out over the coming months. Do you think Google will buy one of the larger players like Slide or RockYou?

In reality the AdSense is a very bad ad network. More than 25% of the ads are spam link sites (no content - just links to other sites - using cj and other ad agency and google ad sense). You can easily be in a loop of only link spam sites. The truth is that no matter how good is your service - you are selling spam to your users. Google tries to conceal it but the more you try the google AdSense the more you see that it is truely bullshit. The real question is why people are clicking at this sites. (I for once will be glad to know the motive of those people - the sites usually are so off from the content and unless you are really bored or stupid there is no reason to click on the ads). It is time to burst the bubble of Google AdSense (and other ads agencies who are making the web a crappy place.

It appears that Google is now in the popular application “Honesty Box”. Today I observed their In-Site advertising on the “History” tab of the Application's Canvas Page.
