Only 1 week ago I posted about Facebook needing more support. Today, I spoke with a potential client and our conversation confirmed the need for support. Imagine you’re a large company looking to invest 50 thousand dollars in build a robust application. You launch the application and then days later Facebook decides to take it down because it violates their terms of service.
Whether you overlooked a line in the terms or got bogged down in details, the bottom line is that the risk still exists. I can guarantee you that Facebook is going to receive a polite letter from a lawyer the second they shut down a large company’s Facebook application. Even worse is the hesitance that these large companies have in launching an application due to the seemingly uncertain environment.
Whether or not these large companies should be concerned doesn’t matter; they are. I’ve spoken with a few of them. There are a few larger companies that are jumping into the platform but they don’t want to invest heavily since the platform is not a proven environment. The only solution is going to be for Facebook to provide support for their services. Alternatively, they could stick it out and wait for entrepreneurs to become successful on large scale applications but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Where’s the support?

With the low entry barrier for developing facebook applications, Facebook providing support to everyone for something they are essentially giving out for free wouldn’t be feasible for them. What they need is, for larger companies that would be willing to pay for it, professional paid support.
