Drupal for Facebook In The Works

I just found out a new project that Dave Cohen of San Francisco is working on that is pretty sweet! Earlier this month I posted about a content management system on Facebook. Within weeks it looks Dave has successfully ported over Drupal into Facebook. While Dave is not complete with the project (view screen shots below), he is coming along nicely. He has successfully ported the website, “Drupal for Facebook” into the Drupal for Facebook application.

When this is complete, it is going to suddenly become much easier to develop robust communities on the Facebook platform. I have sent a message to Dave to find out if this is an open project or if it is just his and is friends. While I haven’t heard back yet, I will be sure to post a follow-up for any developers that want to participate in the project. Alternatively, you can simply post a comment below if you would like to contribute. It will be interesting so see how far along this goes in the coming weeks. Being a developer myself, I can speak from experience when I say this is surely a challenging task. Best of luck to Dave in completing the project! We will be excited to see the final app.

holy sh!t this is cool! i just started working on developing a fb application, but now i think i’ll wait since my websites run on drupal and there would have been a tie in. i can’t wait to see this in action!

i’m a developer, and would be interested in helping out in any way i can. testing/qa/whatever.

The Drupal for Facebook project is certainly open, and eagerly encourages contributions. Those familiar with the Drupal world already know how to do it: download the code, run it yourself, improve it and post your patches back to the project.

And just to clear up some terminology, it’s not really a matter of “porting” http://www.drupalforfacebook.org to facebook (http://apps.facebook.com/drupalforfacebook). Rather, all the content exists on the http://www.drupalforfacebook.org server, and the content is also displayed on facebook via the facbook api canvas pages. So you could add or edit the content via either URL, and the changes will be shown on both sites.

The goal is not to create one singe drupalforfacebook application. The idea is to make Drupal, which is already a great way to develop an online application, into a great way to develop a Facebook application. So you will be seeing more and more facebook app that are “powered by Drupal for Facebook.”

Wow, as a frequent facebook user, I’d love to test your applications.

Is it ready yet?

Is it ready yet?

Surely by now it’s ready…

nice post! very interesting… I also read that the person who started http://www.adultsonlylist.com was an ex craigslist employee. They are claiming to provide free sex personals and are attempting to take advantage of the new charges for erotic services on cl. The only question is how long until they are sued :)

Nice Idea, I’ll be watching this project with some real interest. Could make for some realy interesting developments.

i’m a drupal user.what the application does?
just gathering information from Facebook? or just put Drupal become a Facebook Clone?
it’s amazing.but keeps it going on.

Excellent! Merci ! nadine

Hi,

I don’t know if you play online poker on a regular basis but I have some (hopefully) helpful advice if you do.

Poker rakeback is a percentage of the fees you pay to enter a game given back to you by signing up with a poker rakeback site. One of the biggest at the moment is therakebackmafia.com, apparently they have the highest percentages and are one of the most trusted sites. I’d rather sign up using these guys than independantly and see 40% of my money back! I have a link:

Please do leave a comment, your opinion on the site and if my info was useful!

How is the project coming along? Is it in use yet?
