Facebook Notes Aggregator = Digg

Yesterday Robert Scoble went off about how combining Google Reader and Facebook will create a Digg killer. I’ve previously discussed this and wondered why Facebook hasn’t created a notes aggregator. I have a number of friends that post notes to their profile that consist of an article and a brief summary of the article. By creating a dated aggregation of their notes, they would ultimately be doing the same thing as Digg but with a new user base that isn’t as familiar with the concept of news aggregators. The only problem with this as being the same thing as Digg is that Facebook has yet to create it, whereas Mario Romero already has. Wouldn’t you imagine that Facebook would already have a notes aggregator on the backburner? I’m sure they already have one in beta but they haven’t released it yet for any number of reasons. Now is as good a time as any given that Scoble has now brought so much attention to the concept of a news/blog aggregator on Facebook. Will Facebook do it? No idea, ask them. If they are going to do it, they should do it soon because the google reader news aggregator on Facebook has picked up some serious steam. With so much demand for one of Facebook I have a feeling that there are going to be a lot of development revisions coming out in the coming days. If you want to join in on the hype, go grab the Google Reader Shared Items application.
